Learning Latin on your own. For those who want to work their way through a Latin textbook on their own, or as a supplement to a class, take a look at these videos. Latinist Roberto Carfagni has tutored Josiah Meadows for over four years now, and many of their sessions have been posted online by Josiah’s father, Scott Meadows (here is a link to their YouTube channel, links to specific chapter tutorials are below). Teacher and student work their way through both volumes of Lingua Latina Per Se Illustrata, by Hans Oerberg, and then they read and discuss classics by Vergil, Caesar, Ovid, Lucretius and more. The sessions are conducted entirely in simple Latin. Recently, Josiah has become the teacher, tutoring young learners in the first book of Lingua Latina, again entirely in Latin.
If students find that they need English explanations of the chapters, take a look at THIS PAGE. Going back and forth between these tutorials and the videos in Latin will help most learners.
Students can watch these tutoring sessions and read along in the textbook. Here are a few links, by chapter, for learners to get started. If students need vocabulary support or practice, here is one teacher’s Quizlet page, with vocabulary sets which include English definitions and pictures: https://quizlet.com/abramring
